Argentina ratified the Convention on 4 September 1999, and the Convention entered into force for Argentina on 1 March 2000. On 31 August 2000, Argentina submitted its initial transparency report which indicated that there were areas under Argentina’s jurisdiction or control in which anti-personnel mines are known or suspected to be emplaced. In accordance with Article 5 of the Convention, Argentina undertakes to destroy or ensure the destruction of all anti-personnel mines in these areas as soon as possible but not later than 1 March 2010
