Chile ratified the Convention on 10 September 2001, and the Convention entered into force for Chile on 1 March 2002. On 5 September 2002, Chile submitted its initial transparency report which indicated that there were areas under Chile’s jurisdiction or control in which anti-personnel mines are known or suspected to be emplaced. In accordance with Article 5 of the Convention, Chile undertakes to destroy or ensure the destruction of all anti-personnel mines in these areas as soon as possible but not later than 1 March 2012
