Tajikistan acceded to the Convention on 12 October 1999, and the Convention entered into force for Tajikistan on 1 April 2001. On 3 February 2003, Tajikistan submitted its initial transparency report which indicated that there were areas under Tajikistan’s jurisdiction or control in which anti-personnel mines are known or suspected to be emplaced. In accordance with Article 5 of the Convention, Tajikistan undertakes to destroy or ensure the destruction of all anti-personnel mines in these areas as soon as possible but not later than 1 April 2010. |
