The 2013 meetings of the Convention’s five Standing Committees took place 27-30 May with the participation of over 400 delegates representing approximately 100 States.

The packed agenda included updates by States Parties to the Convention which are in the process of fulfilling key obligations.

On 30-31 May a technical workshop on child victims of landmines for invited experts took place.

On 2-3 December 1997, representatives of over 100 States gathered in Ottawa to sign the Convention on the Prohibition of the Use, Stockpiling, Production, Transfer of Anti-Personnel Mines and on Their Destruction. In doing so, these States expressed their determination to put an end to the suffering and casualties caused by anti-personnel mines.
