Chile ratified the Convention on 10 September 2001, and the Convention entered into force for Chile on 1 March 2002.

Stockpile Destruction (Article 4)

In its initial transparency report submitted on 05 September 2002, Chile reported stockpiled anti-personnel mines under its ownership or possession or under its jurisdiction or control. In 2003, Chile reported that it had completed the destruction of all stockpiled anti-personnel mines. In total, Chile reported having destroyed 299, 219 mines.

Mine Clearance (Article 5)

On its initial transparency report, Chile reported areas under its jurisdiction or control in which anti-personnel mines are known or suspected to be emplaced. In accordance with Article 5 of the Convention, Chile undertakes to destroy or ensure the destruction of all anti-personnel mines in these areas as soon as possible but not later than 1 March 2012.
