Chile ratified the Convention on 10 September 2001, and the Convention entered into force for Chile on 1 March 2002. Stockpile Destruction (Article 4)In its initial transparency report submitted on 05 September 2002, Chile reported stockpiled anti-personnel mines under its ownership or possession or under its jurisdiction or control. In 2003, Chile reported that it had completed the destruction of all stockpiled anti-personnel mines. In total, Chile reported having destroyed 299, 219 mines. Mine Clearance (Article 5)On its initial transparency report, Chile reported areas under its jurisdiction or control in which anti-personnel mines are known or suspected to be emplaced. In accordance with Article 5 of the Convention, Chile undertakes to destroy or ensure the destruction of all anti-personnel mines in these areas as soon as possible but not later than 1 March 2012.
