The meeting briefly reverted to Agenda Item #11.e.ii to allow for a presentation on updated means used by the United Nations Department for Disarmament Affairs to make available Article 7 reports and other information concerning the Convention:

Agenda Item #11.e.iv: Consideration of the general status and operation of the Convention: Implementation Support

One of the Co-Chairs of the Standing Committee on the General Status and Operation of the Convention delivered a statement on the status of matters concerning implementation support:

The Director of the GICHD introduced his report on the function of the Implementation Support Unit (ISU) and the ISU Manager made brief remarks:

The Coordinator of the Sponsorship Programme provided an update:

Agenda Item #13: Consideration of matters arising from / in the context of reports submitted under Article 7

No delegation raised any matter arising from or in the contexts of reports submitted under Article 7.

Agenda Item #14: Consideration of requests submitted under Article 5

The President informed the meeting that she had not been informed of any requests made under Article 5 for consideration by the meeting.

Agenda Item #15: Consideration of requests submitted under Article 8

The President informed the meeting that she had not been informed of any requests made under Article 8 for consideration by the meeting.

Agenda Item #16: Date, duration and location of the next Meeting of the States Parties

In recalling the offer made by Jordan at the Sixth Meeting of the States Parties to host and preside over the Eighth Meeting of the States Parties, the meeting agreed to designate His Royal Highness Prince Mired Raad Zeid of Jordan President of the Eighth Meeting of the States Parties (8MSP) and decided to hold the 8MSP in Jordan the week of 18-22 November 2007. Related to this decision, the following States Parties and observer delegation took the floor:

  • Jordan
  • ICBL
  • Mexico

Agenda Item #17: Any other business

The following State Party took the floor to provide an update on matters concerning Article 9:

Agenda Item #18: Consideration and adoption of the Final Document

The meeting adopted its Final Report.
