How did delegations prepare for the 8MSP?

At the 8MSP, the main item of business was thematic discussions on the core aims of the Convention and on other matters essential for achieving the aims of the Convention.  The President hoped that those States Parties which are in the process of clearing mined areas, assisting the victims, destroying stockpiled mines or fulfilling other obligaitons would seize the opportunity presented by the 8MSP's thematic discussions to provide further clarity on the steps they are taking to fulfill their responsibilities.

In order to prepare updates on these matters, relevant States Parties could choose to provide additional information in accordance with questions posed by the Co-Chairs in advance of the April 2007 meetings of the Standing Committees.

The President of the 8MSP, His Royal Highness Prince Mired Raad Al-Hussein of Jordan, was supported by Ms. Lina Abu Nuwar Ghazi, who was the focal point for all organisational matters concerning the 8MSP.
