Thailand ratified the Convention on 27 November 1998, and the Convention entered into force for Thailand on 1 May 1999.
In its initial transparency report submitted on 10 November 1999, Thailand reported stockpiled anti-personnel mines under its ownership or possession or under its jurisdiction or control. In its transparency report submitted on 3 May 2004, Thailand reported that it had completed the destruction of all stockpiled anti-personnel mines. In total, Thailand reported having destroyed 335, 843 mines.
In its initial transparency report, Thailand reported areas under its jurisdiction or control in which anti-personnel mines are known or suspected to be emplaced. In accordance with Article 5 of the Convention, Thailand undertakes to destroy or ensure the destruction of all anti-personnel mines in these areas as soon as possible but not later than 1 May 2009.
