Uganda ratified the Convention on 25 February 1999, and the Convention entered into force for Uganda on 1 August 1999.
In its initial transparency report submitted in 24 May 2002, Uganda reported stockpiled anti-personnel mines under its ownership or possession or under its jurisdiction or control. In its transparency report submitted in 2008, Uganda reported that it had completed the destruction of all stockpiled anti-personnel mines. In total, Uganda reported having destroyed 6, 503 mines.
In its initial transparency report, Uganda reported areas under its jurisdiction or control in which anti-personnel mines are known or suspected to be emplaced. In accordance with Article 5 of the Convention, Uganda undertakes to destroy or ensure the destruction of all anti-personnel mines in these areas as soon as possible but not later than 1 August 2009.
