Angola ratified the Convention on 5 July 2002, and the Convention entered into force for Angola on 1 January 2003. Stockpile Destruction (Article 4)In its initial transparency report submitted on 14 September 2004, Angola reported stockpiled anti-personnel mines under its ownership or possession or under its jurisdiction or control. Angola reported that it had completed the destruction of all stockpiled anti-personnel mines in 2006. In total, Angola reported having destroyed 81,045 mines. Mine Clearance (Article 5)In its initial transparency report, Angola reported areas under its jurisdiction or control in which anti-personnel mines are known or suspected to be emplaced. In accordance with Article 5 of the Convention, Angola undertakes to destroy or ensure the destruction of all anti-personnel mines in these areas as soon as possible but not later than 1 January 2013.
