Cyprus ratified the Convention on 17 January 2003, and the Convention entered into force for Cyprus on 1 July 2003.

Stockpile Destruction (Article 4)

In its initial transparency report submitted on February 2004, Cyprus reported stockpiled anti-personnel mines under its ownership or possession or under its jurisdiction or control. In 2007, Cypress reported that it had completed the destruction of all stockpiled anti-personnel mines. In total, Cyprus reported having destroyed 48,916 mines.

Mine Clearance (Article 5)

In its initial transparency report, Cyprus reported areas under its jurisdiction or control in which anti-personnel mines are known or suspected to be emplaced. In accordance with Article 5 of the Convention, Cyprus undertakes to destroy or ensure the destruction of all anti-personnel mines in these areas as soon as possible but not later than 1 July 2013. On 30 April 2012, Cyprus submitted a request to extend this deadline.
