The Democratic Republic of the Congo acceded to the Convention on 2 May 2002, and the Convention entered into force for The Democratic Republic of the Congo on 1 November 2002.

Stockpile Destruction (Article 4)

In its initial transparency report submitted on 30 April 2003, Democratic Republic of the Congo reported stockpiled anti-personnel mines under its ownership or possession or under its jurisdiction or control. Democratic Republic of the Congo reported that it had completed the destruction of all stockpiled anti-personnel mines in 2005. In total, Democratic Republic of the Congo reported having destroyed 4, 487 mines.

Mine Clearance (Article 5)

In its initial transparency report which, Democratic Republic of Congo reported areas under its jurisdiction or control in which anti-personnel mines are known or suspected to be emplaced. In accordance with Article 5 of the Convention, The Democratic Republic of the Congo undertakes to destroy or ensure the destruction of all anti-personnel mines in these areas as soon as possible but not later than 1 November 2012
