France acceded to the Convention on 23 July 1998, and the Convention entered into force for France on 1 March 1999. Stockpile Destruction (Article 4)In its initial transparency report submitted on 26 August 1999, France reported stockpiled anti-personnel mines under its ownership or possession or under its jurisdiction or control. In 1999, France reported that it had completed the destruction of all stockpiled anti-personnel mines. In total, France reported having destroyed 1,098,485 mines. Mine Clearance (Article 5)In its initial transparency report, France reported areas under its jurisdiction or control in which anti-personnel mines are known or suspected to be emplaced. On 27 November 2008, France reported to the Ninth Meeting of the States Parties that it had fulfilled its obligation under Article 5 of the Convention. |
