South Africa ratified the Convention on 26 June 1998, and the Convention entered into force for South Africa on 1 March 1999. Stockpile Destruction (Article 4)In its initial transparency report submitted on 1 September 1999, South Africa reported stockpiled anti-personnel mines under its ownership or possession or under its jurisdiction or control. In 2003, South Africa reported that it had completed the destruction of all stockpiled anti-personnel mines. In total, South Africa reported having destroyed 312,089 mines. |
