Vanuatu ratified the Convention on 6 September 2005, and the Convention entered into force for Vanuatu on 1 March 2006. On 31 August 2006, Vanuatu submitted its initial transparency report which indicated that there were areas under Vanuatu’s jurisdiction or control in which anti-personnel mines are known or suspected to be emplaced. In accordance with Article 5 of the Convention, Vanuatu undertakes to destroy or ensure the destruction of all anti-personnel mines in these areas as soon as possible but not later than 1 March 2016 |
