Regional Conference on Advancing Victim Assistance Implementation and Cooperation
Victim assistance (VA) in the framework of the Convention aims to provide assistance for “the care and rehabilitation, including the social and economic reintegration of mine victims’’, in particular by recognising the rights and needs of landmine survivors, affected families and communities, and ensuring the full, equal, and effective participation of mine victims in society, based on respect for human rights, gender equality, inclusion, and non-discrimination.
The European Regional Conference on Advancing Victim Assistance and Cooperation -part of a series of events on the road to the Siem Reap-Angkor Summit on a Mine-Free World - counts with the technical backing of the Convention's Implementation Support Unit, and is held thanks to support provided through a global project sponsored by the Council of the European Union (EU).
