Bangkok - Thailand hosted an international symposium in Bangkok from 23 to 25 June on assistance to and cooperation among mine-affected countries.
“It is an obligation of the 161 States Parties to the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention to cooperate and assist each other in realizing its humanitarian goal of zero new victims and a mine-free world,” said Nopadol Gunavibool, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
More than 100 experts and diplomats representing over 35 states and 10 international and non-governmental organisations took part in the symposium supported by the Convention's Implementation Support Unit (ISU) and co-sponsored by Australia.
