Presidency

Afghanistan, which acceded to the Convention in 2002, presided over the work of the Convention in 2018.

Afghanistan's Presidency began at the conclusion of the Sixteenth Meeting of the States Parties on 21 December 2017 and concluded at the end of the Seventeenth Meeting of the States Parties.

H.E. Suraya Dalil, Ambassador of Afghanistan to Switzerland and the UN in Geneva was the fifth woman to preside over a Meeting of the States Parties since the Convention began its formal proceedings in 1999.
