Since 1997, the UN General Assembly has adopted a “Resolution on the Implementation of the 1997 Convention on the Prohibition of the Use, Stockpiling, Production and Transfer of Anti-personnel Mines and on Their Destruction”.

The State not party has indicated on its abstentions,
“Israel continues to view landmines, including anti-personnel mines, as an essential defensive tool that is effective in deterring and preventing infiltration into its territory and threats to its security. At the same time, Israel recognizes the humanitarian importance of the issue and therefore conducts its activities in strict compliance with the provisions of Amended Protocol 2 of the CCW – including those that regulate monitoring, marking, fencing and recording – as well as submits its annual report on a regular basis."
