Bahrain

Many States not party acknowledge and support, to various degrees, the humanitarian goals of the Convention. This page presents the latest information available or expressed by the State not party, vis-à-vis the Convention. Since 1997, the UN General Assembly has adopted a “Resolution on the Implementation of the 1997 Convention on the Prohibition of the Use, Stockpiling, Production and Transfer of Anti-personnel Mines and on Their Destruction”.

The State not party most recently has voted as follows,

  • In favour - 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025

The State not party has indicated,

  • At the end of 2010, the Convention's Special Envoy HRH Prince Mired visited Bahrain where he met with Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of Bahrain’s Defence Force, HRH Salman ibn Hamad ibn Isa Al Khalifa. The Crown Prince appreciated the visit and the hand delivery of letters from the Convention President requesting Bahrain to give consideration to accession to the Convention. The Crown Prince was very open to the appeal to become a State Party and indicated that from then on, it was for the States Parties to follow up.
